Camera Tests

I suggested to Ethan that we could film some of the more intense dialogue like the scene from Shadowhunters above. I suggested booking out the stedicam to achieve this and also have a steady look to it.

Ethan clearly didn't like the stedicam as it was hard and required patience to set up just right with the different weights (it was quite simple with a basic understanding of maths but was very time consuming). I suggested for Ethan to go on a wander with it to see how it looked. It was a bit of a failed test as it wasn't quite set up right and not steady so it acts like a pendulum most of the time going back and fourth. It also requires a good posture. Overall it is a hard piece of equipment to use, requires loads of patience and hard to get exactly right. We probably won't be using it again. But hey, it's all experience!

I then suggested to do a few handheld shots to try and achieve the Shadowhunters dialogue scene, so me and Jamie were Gartha and June and read through the love potion ingredient scene. It was a lot better handheld rather than the stedicam. It also looks quite good and dramatic! We got a few different types of shots- one CU spin of me, one of Jamie and one figure 8 shot of both. It would be nice to also film the dialogue normally (180 degree rule) just in case and if it works better.
