As well as a shot list, the lecturer suggested to me that I look at 'line scripts'. Basically, using this technique, it's easier to look at what shots I need, of what, and how many takes it took/what slate number.
Line scripts are typically in a red pen, a wiggly line shows dialogue that is off scene (and doesn't relate to the shot, usually a CU). You draw your lines in left to right in shooting order (I normally do wide, then CU then cutaways, but the video below does close ups first). If a shot continues on the other page, draw an arrow at the bottom of the line.
