Hm yes I would like to see some 3D Suicide... Um...
I have seen SO MANY mixed reviews for this film, it's like Marmite; some people love it, some people hate it. Most of the bad reviews are from press and the good reviews are from fans. Possibly only fans can understand and appreciate the film as an addition to the DCEU? Anyways, this is starting to sound like an essay, this is a review. Here is my opinion. I can't remember much of it sadly as I was too angry at the woman next to me being very vocal and gasping at literally everything. Completely ruined my experience.

Let's talk about the 3D first. Nothing too amazing. The snow looked nice and the villain looked good. If anything, the 3D was a bit distracting. I felt like I could have observed more without it. The CGI however, was spot on. The Scott Pilgrim feel graphics at the start introducing each character were particularly well done, adding to the fun feel of the film. The quick editing also added to this, but at times I wanted it all to slow down as too much was happening at once. Enchantress was brilliantly done, most reviews I have seen have said she is the weakest part of the film. I disagree. I like the character and also her counterpart.

SOUNDTRACK! The soundtrack was spot on! I was tapping along to Spirit In The Sky and that vocal woman was singing along to Bohemian Rhapsody. I'm not very keen on the rap included in the album (I don't think there was any in the actual film?) I also wasn't keen on Heathens but I liked it in the film, which is a bit weird. Panic! At The Disco's cover of Bohemian Rhapsody IS SO GOOD! A tough legacy to live up to; I have seen SO MUCH HATE towards them for even attempting a cover, which is upsetting. Music should be sung to enjoy, which they clearly enjoyed doing when you listen to it back.

Possibly the most important think everyone was anticipating was Jared Leto as The Joker. I personally love Jared Leto, but I tried to keep an unbiased mindset while watching the film (says the person wearing him as The Joker on a shirt to the film). Honest opinion, I need to see more of him to make an opinion. He didn't appear much, but what he did appear in was great. However, he is a bit too smitten in the film, I wanted to see him full on crazy, not crazy in love. Same with Harley, who was a bit too dumb and only doing thinks for "her puddin'". I wanted to see her a bit stronger and more intelligent (she only had one truly badass moment near the moment in my opinion).

The most developed character was Will Smith as Deadshot, who completely stole the limelight. His backstory was heartbreaking, and he genuinely is a nice character despite the whole group being villains. We emotionally align with him and want him to see his daughter again. His moment with Harley was also well acted; "ever been in love?" and him kind of comforting her. The characters were by far the best thing about the film.

Overall, a fun film. No cinematic masterpiece sadly. Great characters. Humour let it down a little bit (it tried too hard to be funny). But I would watch it again.
